About the Hercules Beetle

The longest beetle in the world. Males have enormous horns used in combat with rival males - they use them to pry opponents off branches. Their wing cases change color from green to black when humidity changes, due to microscopic photonic crystals. Proportionally, they can carry 850 times their own body weight - the strongest animal relative to size on Earth. Larvae develop for 1-2 years in rotting wood.
