About the Stink Bug (Brown Marmorated)

One of the most damaging invasive agricultural pests. It arrived in the US from Asia in 1998 and has spread to 46 states. It causes hundreds of millions of dollars in crop damage annually. It feeds on over 300 plant species. It invades homes in fall by the thousands seeking warmth. Its odor is described as a pungent cilantro-skunk smell. It has almost no natural predators in North America. Researchers are investigating a parasitic wasp from Asia as a biological control. It produces 1-2 generations per year. Management is extremely difficult.
