Bed Bug
About the Bed Bug
One of the most successful human parasites. They can survive 6-12 months without feeding. They inject anesthetic and anticoagulant compounds while biting, so hosts do not feel it. Nearly eradicated by DDT in the 1950s, they have made a dramatic global resurgence since 2000. Infestations increased 300-500% in major cities. They are not known to transmit disease. They can hide in cracks as thin as a credit card. Heat treatment at 60 degrees C is the most reliable eradication method.
