About the Atlas Moth
The largest moth in the world by wing area. Their wingtips mimic cobra heads to deter predators. Adults have no functional mouthparts and live only 1-2 weeks on fat stored as caterpillars. Found in Southeast Asian tropical forests. Their silk is tougher and more durable than silkworm silk. Wing patterns include translucent windows that may startle predators.
