About the Cockroach (American)
One of the hardiest insects on Earth. They can survive without a head for up to a week - they breathe through body segments and die only from dehydration. They can hold their breath for 40 minutes. They run at 5.4 km/h, equivalent to a human running 330 km/h relative to body size. They are among the oldest winged insects, dating back 350 million years. They have been found to have individual personality traits. Despite their reputation, only about 30 of 4,600 species are considered pests.
