About the Honeybee (Killer Bee)

Created accidentally in Brazil 1956 when African queen bees escaped. They defend their hives more aggressively, chasing threats 400 meters vs 50 for European bees. 10x more guard bees respond to threats. They have killed approximately 1,000 people since their introduction. They reached the US in 1990 and are now in 10+ states. Despite their reputation, they produce excellent honey in tropical climates. They are slowly becoming less aggressive through breeding with European bees. Staying still is the best defense - they are attracted to movement.
