About the Mosquito (Aedes)

The primary vector for dengue, Zika, yellow fever, and chikungunya. Unlike Anopheles, they bite primarily during the day. They are container breeders - they can develop in a bottle cap of water. Aedes aegypti has been called the most dangerous animal in the world after the Anopheles mosquito. They have white stripes on their legs. They prefer human blood over other animals. They have evolved to live almost exclusively in and around human dwellings. They can fly only 100-200 meters from their breeding site. Climate change is expanding their range.
